General Questions

No we are not, we are a intermediary between the contractor and homeowner. This has many advantages over working with just a contractor. We assign a project manager to each job so you can expect someone to be there and answer your questions anytime.
No we are not, we represent the general contractor. By state law a general contractor cannot be both a licensed contractor and licensed adjuster. Also, we represent you the homeowner and it would be a conflict of interest if we were both. Therefore, if you need a public adjuster, such as if your job needs to go to a appraisal process. We can refer you to a variety of very good independent public adjusters.

We are a unique company that deals with all aspects of construction management. We deal with homeowners, contractors, insurance agents, sub contractors, and vendors.


Homeowner Questions

We don’t just accept any contractor to join our preferred network, we have a stringent screening process to only accept the best contractors. All contractors in our preferred network are licensed and insured, we also require that each contractor has been in business for a minimum of 5 years. A project manager is assigned to each claim to oversee and handle all aspects of the job. You can count on your project manager to be there for you 24/7 and answer any questions you have. We are on your side, not the contractors or insurance companies.
Yes you can, but it’s generally not preferred. The reason being is that the same as your contractor, you will carry the burden of funding and documentation of your job. In addition, you the same as your contractor, will take point on all communications with sub contractors, vendors, insurance agents, mortgage escrow requiring dozens of hours of your time throughout the claims process.
“In many cases, the contractor’s salespeople explain they will work with the homeowners’ insurance carrier to get a good settlement so the homeowner will not have to pay any more than the amount of their deductible. They may even offer to pay their deductible for the repairs. However, contractors may not offer to pay the homeowners deductible. State law prohibits contractors from paying deductibles or offering any compensation as an incentive to hire them to perform storm repair services.” Information provided by Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry
Of course! We make sure our contractors provide a Minnesota contractor 1-2-10 warranty.

1 Year – The home improvement shall be free from defects caused by faulty workmanship and defective materials due to non compliance with building standards.

2 Year – The dwelling shall be free from defects caused by faulty installation of plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling systems due to non compliance with building standards.

10 Year – The dwelling shall be free from major construction defects due to noncompliance with building standards.

Most banks including U.S. Bank, Citibank, and Wells Fargo; if your loss exceeds $5,000 the insurance check is usually placed into a mortgage escrow account. To release funds, a contractor’s contract, IRS W-9, conditional lien waiver, statement of intent to complete repairs etc. will be required. Payments will be issued as follows: 1/3 of your insurance check is released to bring your job to 2/3 completion requiring an inspection to release the next 1/3. A second inspection is required at 100% completion to release the final 1/3. Each inspection and check disbursement takes several weeks. It’s important to note your contractor or you if you do not have one, will be funding the majority of your job until final payout and unusually so if depreciation has not yet been released.
